I started reading this because I was looking for a mystery, seems I haven’t read one in a while.  Once you are into it, you realize it’s more of love story, but nicely written even if somewhat contrived.  And it’s a page turner, the author sucks you in. But then it turns into more of a horror story (which I don't read), with awful things done to dogs.  And although everything was nicely tied up at the end, you felt manipulated and lost all belief in the characters.   This book is going to the library donation pile!
