Downtown Phoenix Farmers market

Yesterday (Saturday morning) we made the trek down to the farmers market in downtown, on Central between Fillmore and Roosevelt.  This is just north of the ASU Downtown Campus, so a lot of construction is underway (including light rail).  It's about a 30 minute drive (so I don't think I'm really helping with global warming by eating locally), but it was good to get some nice produce.  There were 4 farmers there.  The biggest is One Windmill farm, with everything from potatoes and onions to lettuce and cabbage... and some really good peaches.  Another guy had some tomatillo's (which I have not seen before in the local farmers market) and Anaheim chili's (haven't tasted yet, but have a wonderful fragrance), another had a huge selection of carrots, and some winter squash (let's hope fall is coming with a little cooler weather).   They are set up in a parking lot, but the tents are all one against the other, with shade cloth in between, plus portable swamp coolers and fans, so overall not too hot (even on a 110F day).  In addition there were several vendors with prepared food, plus jewelry, soap, etc.  Definitely will go again...  until our local market opens back up.
