We're Just Like You, Only Prettier

We're Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions of a Tarnished Southern Belle by Celia Rivenbark

I was looking for some summer fluff to read, and this hit the spot.  I’m not recommending that you should run out and buy it, but if a friend gives you this in a stack of books, or you find in it in the library and are in the right mood, it’s a fun read.

What the book is a memoir, done as stand-up comedy, about the perils of being a women and mom in today’s society.  It just kept hitting me that this must be really hard to write this way.

What I didn’t get was they whole southern thing.  Either Arizona is a lot more South (as opposed to Southwest) than I have figured, or the whole country is much more homogenous that folks in the South realize!

So, what have you been reading this summer?   And let me know if you are looking for some fluff, let me know, I have just the book to pass along.
