Bel Canto

Bel Canto by Ann Pachett  was a wonderful read.  I think it makes a difference on how you read book:  hours at a time or minutes at a time.  For example, the last book I read was Cane River, and I read it all at once.  This was purely luck, circumstances allowed an entire Sunday to just read. And a good thing – there were so many people to keep track of, it was hard to read otherwise.  But I just finished reading Bel Canto, pretty much is 10 minute increments, before going to sleep, or a few other stolen moments.  And it was perfect to read this way.  For starters, it was a relaxing read, all very beautiful writing by Ann Pachett.. but easy to read.  Not too many people to keep track of.  One setting.  Mostly it gave you time too appreciate the stories that are developing, and to appreciate the new discoveries each of the characters are making.

The story was the most though provoking I have read in a while.  I was interesting to see both the captives and the captors start to learn what made the happy, and how learn what really made them satisfied
